LATE TO THE FEAST

Late to the Feast from Jason A. Maas on Vimeo.

Jason A. Maas places the drumset front and center in this composition for 16-piece orchestra, also intended for choreographed dance. He says, "There are to be no seats in the theater to blur the line between performer and audience member. The audience is encouraged to mimic the choreography or just dance along." The first in a series of orchestral works that are written for "dance parties". (This is a computer playing the written score. Run time 5:06) 2010

Bethlehem

Bethlehem from Jason A. Maas on Vimeo.

Beginning with the song "Bethlehem" by the Greenpoint, Brooklyn band Hopewell, Jason A. Maas composed this work for 26-piece orchestra. Choosing a band that helped serve as a soundtrack for his time living in North Brooklyn in the mid 2000's, he reworks the themes into a tribute to New York City.
