This series has reached over 500,000 children and has been translated into seven languages and counting.
Background: In 2006 when I was approached to illustrate and help develop the children’s book, "Cows Can’t Jump", which teaches young listeners and early readers animal names and verbs through a story that focuses on building confidence and respecting differences, I jumped at the chance. The book is now highly praised and celebrated, and both it and three sequels have made it to the esteemed Parent-Child Home Program’s Recommended List. Through early childhood literacy organizations such as this one and Reach Out And Read, with the generous support of a local foundation, the books continually to be distributed free to thousands of underprivileged children, mostly through pediatricians and social service agencies.
